in a co-production with Theatre Royal Stratford East
19 April - 22 May 2010

For schools and colleges booking 20 or more tickets for a single show, Graeae are pleased to offer a free workshop for the group.

Choose one of these workshops:

Workshop 1: Signed Song
This workshop gives deaf and hearing people an opportunity to explore signed song. Acting as an introduction to both the play and to BSL, it will explore the nature of communication through different narratives.

Participants will develop and learn two songs, learning the signing as well as the rules and techniques of signed song. The workshop will encourage development of theatre skills such as improvisation and mime, as well as confidence and communication.

Workshop 2: Graeae and Creative Access
Workshop 2 explores Graeae’s innovative approach to theatre, which puts artistic Access at the heart of the work.  Each Graeae production takes a unique approach to Access for audiences.  Using tools such as British Sign Language, Audio Description (for visually impaired audiences) and captioning (for deaf audiences) we creatively push boundaries to ensure that all our work is accessible.

Using a variety of techniques, the workshop will demonstrate some of our approaches and explore how to make your own work more accessible. This is a unique opportunity to explore the theatrical language of creative Access, learn new skills and generate discussion around what we think theatre should be.

How to book:  Workshops are free for all schools and groups booking 20+ tickets to see the show.  Book show tickets as normal with the relevant venue, then contact Graeae to book a workshop.

Interested schools/colleges should contact Rachel Bagshaw on 020 7614 6900 or email rachel@graeae.org for more details.

Please contact us to discuss options for groups of less than 20.
