"Static" nominated for Whiting Award
We are delighted to announce that Static has been nominated for the John Whiting Award 2008.
Dan Rebellato's play was written for Graeae and Suspect Culture and toured the UK earlier this year.
Now sponsored by the Peter Wolff Theatre Trust, the John Whiting Award has been given annually since 1967 for the best new British or Commonwealth play of the year. Previous winners have included Tom Stoppard, Edward Bond, Howard Brenton, John Arden, Martin Crimp, Joe Penhall, Roy Williams, David Greig and Fin Kennedy.
The panel looks for
- A play in which the writing is of special quality
- A play of relevance and importance to contemporary life
- A play of potential value to British Theatre
